Welcome
Welcome to the Odyssey Computing Hub for Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Swindon, Bristol, Bath and North Somerset.
We are a partnership between Adfecto, Pate’s Grammar School and the NCCE and one of the first DfE funded Teach Computing Hubs which form part of the National Centre for Computing Education.
The NCCE was set up in November 2018 by the Department of Education to increase the number of pupils in schools and colleges who study computer science at GCSE, AS and A level, particularly girls and those in disadvantaged areas, and to ensure that there is a strong pipeline of digital skills in England.
How can we help?
We support teachers by offering both remote and local face to face training; facilitating networks of teachers, professionals and subject leaders and offering bespoke training to schools, federations and Multi-Academy Trusts.
We also provide advice and guidance for the computing curriculum and signpost resources and other professional bodies who can help.
Our area includes:
- Gloucestershire
- Wiltshire
- Swindon
- City of Bristol
- North Somerset
- Bath
The training, resources and support on offer cover the curriculum from Key Stage 1 through to A level and cater for all levels of subject knowledge and experience. There are generous subsidies available to facilitate release time from school and an opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification.
In addition to the support provided by the Computing Hub, there is a wealth of developing material for teachers of all key stages on the Teach Computing website. This includes a full scheme of work from KS1 to KS4. There are also podcasts, blogs and pedagogy quick links, all designed to provide teachers with the most current advice and information in an easily digestible format.
